somehow i knew that it would slowly fade

& the story continues,

when someone lets you know one's father is ill
lying in the hospital bed, unable to respond to your story-telling, your singing and your small talks
how would you feel?

that friend said
his organs failed and revived
he managed to go through the wedding day of his son full of smiles and energy
after that this ability started to fade
now he can't even squeeze my hand

how do you comfort a person like that?
you say yes i understand, but how much do you really understand?
that pain that is seen through the eyes
that anger and frustration that i felt so deeply
i knew that friend was going through so much and all i could say was
i understand

doctors, medicine, treatment
every specialist saw a single part of him and its all good
yet none saw him as a whole
which he is far from good
i was as helpless as she was

school never taught us how to handle such things
when one puts down the books full of theories and formulas
open your eyes to the world
one will realises that life isn't all about the books
there's so much more out there we have to learn
where things like these don't have formulas for us to memorise
no theories that we have to apply
yet they are the toughest to learn

what would you say?
